Knee braces

Definition

Knee braces for osteoarthritis are devices worn around your knee that are designed to take pressure off the part of your knee joint that is most narrowed and affected by arthritis. Knee braces may offer support to your knee, which can make you feel more confident about using your knee as you go about your daily tasks. Knee braces may also help to properly align your knee to help reduce osteoarthritis pain.

Knee braces can be made of elastic, metal, plastic or a combination of several materials. Knee braces designed for people with osteoarthritis usually require a prescription from a doctor and an appointment with a medical professional who specializes in fitting braces (orthotist).
